工藤の長編3作目「遠いところ」は、沖縄の若年層の実態を描いた物語。沖縄の子供の困窮した状況、DV、シングルマザーの様子を追ったルポルタージュに工藤が自身の生い立ちを重ね合わせたことから企画が生まれ、独自に取材を重ね全編沖縄で撮影した。。Henriette and Louise, a foundling, are raised together as sisters. When Louise goes blind, Henriette swears to take care of her forever. They go to Paris to see if Louise's blindness can be cured, but are separated when an aristocrat lusts after Henriette and abducts her. Only Chevalier de Vaudrey is kind to her, and they fall in love. The French Revolution replaces the corrupt...。
