本片为电视台50周年台庆剧。为「富良野三部曲」最后一部，探讨人生的归宿。 一直在东京生活的白鸟贞美（中井贵一 饰）是某有名大医院的麻醉教授，因为对妻子的不忠而导致妻子自杀，居住在富良野的父亲白鸟贞三（绪形拳 饰）与其断绝父子关系，并独力抚养贞美的女儿和儿子。六年过去，向来与女性关系颇为混乱的贞美与23岁的冰室茜（平原绫香 饰）交往，茜是才华横溢的新歌者。 贞美发现自己患上了胰腺癌，并已到了末期。在医院治疗同样换上胰腺癌的病人时触动心事，回到故乡富良野远远看望自己亲人的近况。女儿白鸟瑠衣把爷爷的花园打理得井井有条，感情却陷入死胡同，爱上有妇之夫；在养护医院生活过的儿子岳（神木隆之介 饰）在爷爷的教育下，长成一个对花的知识了解透彻又弹得一手好钢琴的善良少年。 贞美能否得到家人的原谅，风之花园能够化解三代恩怨？。James Purefoy stars as William Travers, a criminal barrister who is recovering from a traumatic series of events that have shaken his belief in the legal system.
